Application fields of the eco2 Recycling Graph

• The eco2 End of Life evaluation enables the economic-ecologic analysis of alternative methods of waste disposals.

• The emphasis lies on material recycling and the final disposal of wastes for all product types (including complex combinations of materials e.g. electronic products).

• There are three main application fields (see Figure):

1. the comparison of End of Life alternatives;
2. the evaluation of design alternatives regarding the disposal performance of a product;
3. the application of the evaluation method as a preliminary study for a product-related LCA/LCE analysis, which may consider an already evaluated disposal alternative.

Life Cycle Assessment and Life Cycle Engineering methods  can be enhanced through a unique waste evaluation technique. The eco2 evaluation method

• avoids multi life cycle allocation and

• avoids system expansion

allowing any secondary materials gained to be ecologically accounted for. Using these, PE Europe offers an objective evaluation of alternative End of Life systems.
